At Trinity Bay State High School the physical education department has a long and proud history of being a very successful and high functioning department that offers a diverse range of opportunities for students. The staff are motivated, enthusiastic and highly student orientated.
We cater for all ranges of abilities and interest levels in a safe and supportive environment that promotes an active lifestyle and heathy living. The dedicated staff embed lifelong attitudes to heathy living in all students.
Special programs in junior secondary
- The talented athlete academy is a certified excellence program developed in consultation with current research on gifted and talented education. If offers elite and like-minded athletes the opportunity to develop their skills, fitness and knowledge in a high performing environment.
Senior secondary
- Academic options: physical education and health education. These subjects coordinate full school health and wellbeing initiatives over the year, and learn about a range of sport science and health issues.
- Vocational options: outdoor education, sports and aquatics and certificate III in fitness. Trinity Bay State High School has been a leader in outdoor education in Far North Queensland for many years now. Currently we deliver a very well established and extremely comprehensive outdoor education program that utilises many of our community partnerships with local industry to offer truly exciting experiences for students.
School sport
We have long been recognised in the local community as a very strong and successful sporting school. Our students have in the past experienced success in a range of sports at all levels from local to international. Students have the opportunity to participate in whole school carnivals throughout the year and an almost unlimited number of school teams. Some of which have traditionally included:
- rugby league, AFL, netball, soccer, cricket, triathlon, athletics, cross country, swimming, hockey, rugby union, basketball, touch and volleyball.

TCC Calendar for 2023
Stages to trial for TCC and progress to Peninsula
Stage 1:
See Miss Mison at the Sports Complex or Mr Stewart at the KIOSK and nominate by writing your details on the corresponding sports nomination form.
Stage 2:
Miss Mison will then give you the TCC trial form for your specific sport. This form will include all the information required to attend such as the venue, date and time.
Stage 3:
Students to download the "Peninsula School Sport Permission/ Details Booklet" and parents to complete. (Open document, save blank document to computer, complete and save final copy of document). If your child competes in several sports throughout the year you may use this completed form saved to your computer multiple times.
Stage 4:
Print the completed Peninsula School Sport Permission/ Details Booklet and student to take to the administration building at E Block for a principal or deputy to sign. (Upon signing, students will have their clearance checked to see if they are able to attend the trials.
Step 5:
Students MUST take the completed "Peninsula School Sport Permission/ Details Booklet" to the TCC trials and hand to the coach. If the student attends the trials without this form or it is not signed by the principal then the student is not able to trial.
Step 6:
If the student is successful at the TCC trial he/she will progress to the Peninsula trials. The TCC coach will take the "Peninsula School Sport Permission/ Details Booklet" to the next level on behalf of the student along with the rest of the TCC team.
