English is a compulsory subject for years 7 to 12 and is an essential requirement for any workforce or university pathway.
Junior English curriculum (years 7 to 10) is developed from the Australian curriculum and the Queensland curriculum 2 classroom.
Years 7 and 8 also complete the essential literacy skills program, focusing on consolidating skills in reading, writing, spelling and grammar.
Words Work is an elective with a focus on developing comprehension for struggling readers.
Senior subjects include communication English, a workforce pathway option as well as the Queensland curriculum and assessment authority subject, English.
The English department also provides a range of extra-curricular opportunities to extend and engage students such as our Writer's Festival, inter-school debating, public speaking, local speaking, local and school spelling bees, and our school writing competition.
