Trinity Bay SHS has established a purposeful, student-centred international program.

Exceptional host families

We carefully match each student with a suitable host family, understanding that a positive homestay experience is central to overall success.  If a placement is not the right fit, we act promptly and decisively. The student is always at the centre of our decision-making. We are fortunate to have a large network of experienced, caring, and highly supportive host families who consistently provide welcoming homes.

Signature Reef & Marine Experiences

Diving Program (offered each term)

Students can experience the Great Barrier Reef through:

  • PADI Open Water Course
  • Advanced Dive Course
  • Recreational diving (for qualified students).

This is frequently described by students as life-changing and is a major drawcard for our program.

School-Based Excursions (two per term)

Each semester, we organise local excursions that showcase the unique culture and environment of Far North Queensland. Destinations may include:

  • Kuranda
  • Mossman
  • Port Douglas.

Island Excursion (each term)

Students participate in a dedicated island day each term, visiting locations such as:

  • Green Island
  • Fitzroy Island.

These days are always highlights and create lasting memories.

Major Semester Experiences

The Daintree Experience (semester 1)

Students travel to the world-heritage listed Daintree Rainforest, including a visit to the renowned Daintree Rainforest Observatory.  This provides authentic environmental learning in one of the world’s most unique ecosystems.

Watch Our Classroom in the Rainforest: Trinity Bay State High School.

The Orpheus Island Experience (semester 2)

Students participate in an immersive excursion to Orpheus Island, combining marine exploration, environmental education, and the natural beauty of the reef region.  This is an unforgettable capstone experience.

Subject Selection & Academic Pathways

Students choose from a comprehensive range of Academic and Vocational Pathway subjects, allowing them to pursue areas aligned to their interests and future goals. Many subjects include curriculum-based excursions that extend learning beyond the classroom.

Marine Science Club

Led by our Marine Science Teacher (a qualified Marine Biologist), this extracurricular program offers additional excursions and enrichment opportunities—a strong attraction for students interested in marine and environmental studies.

Sporting opportunities

  • International Tennis Centre within close proximity to the school
  • Onsite Swimming Club
  • Term 1 & Term 2 CISSA interschool sport competitions.

Through exceptional pastoral care, high-quality host families, enriching excursions, and unique reef and rainforest experiences, we provide far more than an education program.

We create a second home, lifelong friendships, and transformative memories.
