Talented Athlete Academy

​Is your child passionate about sport? Dreaming of turning it into a career? Interested in building strength, fitness, and resilience while avoiding early burnout?

At Trinity Bay State High School, our Talented Athlete Academy (TAC) is a multi-sport development program designed to fast-track young athletes by giving them access to some of the best facilities, coaching staff, and sports science resources in the region.

This program supports long-term athlete growth through a holistic approach that includes:
  • Strength and conditioning
  • Nutrition education
  • Sports psychology
  • Physical literacy
  • Injury prevention and recovery strategies
Whether your child is focused on one sport or participates in multiple, the Talented Athlete Academy equips them with the tools to excel—on and off the field.

How to Apply ​​​

To apply, please submit the following to the school:
  • School of Excellence Application Form
  • Trinity Bay SHS Enrolment Form
For Year 6 into Year 7 students, round 1 applications must be received no later than midday on the Tuesday of the final week of Term 1.

Application Checklist​

  • Complete all forms fully and accurately
  • Include two photocopies of your child’s most recent school report
Please note: Do not submit original documents

Students may apply for multiple Excellence Programs. In some cases, they may be asked to choose between programs based on scheduling or availability.

Application Process​

Stage 1: Submit Your Application​​

Once received, all applications will be reviewed. Shortlisted students will move on to Stage 2.

Stage 2: Physical Trials​

Applicants will be invited to attend a Physical Trial Day at Trinity Bay SHS, where they will complete:
  • Fitness assessments
  • Spatial awareness drills
  • Sport-specific skill evaluations
For applications submitted after round 1 please contact the school for information on how to complete the ‘At Home Testing’ process.

Stage 3: Outcome & Notification​​

Trial performance will be reviewed alongside academic data, including:
  • Behaviour and attendance records
  • Achievement in English, Mathematics, and Health & Physical Education
By the end of Term 2, families will be notified by mail with either:
  • An Offer of Placement, or
  • A Letter of Decline
If your child is offered a position, you must contact the school office by the due date to formally accept. Failure to respond may result in the offer being withdrawn.

Stage 4: Acceptance & Deposit​

To confirm your child’s place:
  • A $100 deposit is required by the end of Term 3 (credited toward school fees)
  • Submit the signed Excellence Program Contract that was included with your offer letter
Only one payment is required if your child is accepted into multiple Excellence Programs.
Payments can be made at the school's main office.

Eligibility Criteria​

To be eligible for the Talented Athlete Academy, applicants must:
  • Be achieving passing grades in Mathematics and English (Considerations may be made for EAL/D students on a case-by-case basis)
  • Maintain a high level of attendance
  • Demonstrate strong behaviour and effort in all classes
  • Perform well during Physical Trial Day
  • Sign and agree to the TAC Athlete Contract
  • Complete all application steps by the required deadlines
