Education Minister Grace has announced that from the beginning of the 2024 school year, mobile phones in all Queensland schools will need to be “away for the day”, “This state-wide ban will provide uniformity, extend bans to break times, and include certain wearable devices like smartwatches.”​

Students will still be able to bring phones to school so that they can contact their parents or carers immediately before or after school hours. Exemptions will also be available for digital learning opportunities or in specific circumstances including reasons related to health and well-being.

All tuckshop purchases will need to paid for with card or cash.​

Banned devices include:

  • Mobile Phones
  • Earphones / Earbuds
  • Smart watches
  • Other wearable devices
