Dear Parents and Caregivers of Year 7 Students,

As we have previously announced, Trinity Bay SHS is implementing QLearn Learning Technology in Year 7 starting in 2024. We would like your support to ensure that your child has a laptop (or tablet) available for use in every class, when required. The system is as follows:

1. The preferred system is for students to bring their OWN laptop from home every day. This is called BYOD (Bring Your Own Device).
See the Bring Your Own Device (BYOx) page as well as the BYOx Device Specifications (PDF, 182KB) for more information.

2. The next preferred system is for parents to organise a Permanent Loan of a laptop via our Hire Scheme ($200/year). The student with a hire-laptop can take it home every day. It is theirs to use on a semi-permanent basis.

3. The last system is for students to go BEFORE FORM every morning and BORROW a laptop from the Resource Centre EVERY DAY. This system is FREE. The student keeps the laptop for the whole day, then returns it a 3:00pm on the bell. This system works, but students will quickly become tired borrowing every day (which is why the first two systems are preferred).

Students who do NOT have a laptop available to be used in class will be deemed “Arriving to Class Unprepared”, and will be dealt with under the TBSHS Student Code of Conduct (detentions and other consequences).

Thank you for your support. If all students have a laptop or tablet in class, they will be able to access the wonderful new technology that is available to them for their learning.

Mr. Bruce PARIS
Deputy Principal (Junior Secondary)
