VET stands for vocational education and training. A vocational education and training student studies national recognised certificate course/s that have a clear industry focus. For example, Certificate l in Hospitality, Certificate lll in Business or Diploma in Nursing.



Why do a vocational education and training course?

A vocational education and training course gives you industry knowledge and skills, as well as a qualification before leaving school, opening up employment opportunities.

What do I get?

  • A certificate upon successful completion.
  • A statement of attainment that lists modules completed.
  • Credit towards the Queensland certificate of education.

Certificate l - 2 or 3 credits; no partial completion.

Certificate ll - 4 credits towards Queensland certificate of education; partial completion recognised.

Certificate lll or lV - 4 to 8 credits​ towards Queensland certificate of education; partial completion recognised.

Diploma - up to 8 credits awarded; partial completion recognised.

Trinity Bay State High School is a registered training organisation, with many RTO offerings​ (PDF​​, 182KB)​.​ Trinity Bay State High School offers students many VETiS funded qualifications through a registered training organisations, including TAFE north (located across the road from the school). ​
