Trinity Bay State High School's program for academically gifted and talented students encompasses a wide variety of activities to extend and enrich student outcomes. Students are identified through a range of methods, and undertake the AGAT (ACER General Abilities Test) to be admitted into the program.

There are a range of activities available to Navigate students, including, but not limited to:

  • university programs: run in conjunction with James Cook University, students attend workshops on university pathways and find out what it means to be a university student. Each Navigate year level also visits James Cook University once a year for an on-campus experience.
  • ICAS: we offer all our Navigate students the chance to enter these prestigious competitions.
  • Opti-minds challenge: Trinity Bay State High School has entered several teams in this creative thinking challenge, winning the regional challenge in 2016.
  • extension opportunities: Navigate students are often selected for extension excursions and program in individual subject areas, including Brainways, the da Vinci Decathlon and geography competitions.
  • Endeavour awards: Trinity Bay State High School's prestigious awards, given to recognise achievements in sports, cultural, academic and community service.
