P&C

WELCOME!

The members of the Parents and Citizen’s Association welcome new and current families to the community of Trinity Bay. We believe that it is the people who make the difference at our school – our students, our staff and our families. The P&C place great value on all members of our community and, as parents and caregivers, you are most important to us.
We encourage you to play an active role in your child’s education. Your involvement will lead to improved student learning, intellectually, socially and emotionally. It is also your right to participate and to be part of decision making at school.

P&C MEETINGS

Parents and Citizen’s Association meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month from 7pm in the Staff Common Room in the Administration Building. Attending these meetings will provide you with a comprehensive idea of how our school works and a valuable opportunity to make real contributions to our school community. Everyone is welcome.

Trinity Bay is governed by a School Council, which is an important vehicle through which the community can provide positive and constructive advice on school management.

TUCKSHOP

Trinity Bay’s tuckshop is operated by very dedicated staff; Mrs Lina Cole, Mrs Kay Coleman, Mrs Carol Newman and Ms Rowena Ribone. Mrs Lina Cole, our Tuckshop Convenor, is always grateful for voluntary assistance and gladly welcomes mothers, fathers, grandparents and others into the extremely friendly atmosphere that exists. The tuckshop is fully air conditioned and was renovated a few years ago - both projects of the P&C. As a thank you to our Tuckshop volunteers, the P&C subsidise an end of year dinner, which is always a great night.
This service not only provides students with healthy food at reasonable prices, but also supports all students at Trinity Bay with the funds raised from sales. Please see or phone Lina if you would like to become one of the many friends of the school by assisting in the Tuckshop.
Uniforms and calculators are available from the tuckshop which is open everyday from 8.30am – 3.30pm.

A SNAPSHOT OF 2007

The P&C’s main focus for 2007 has been the transformation of the School Assembly Hall into a boutique theatre. This project was funded by a grant from the Smart School Subsidy Scheme, the School, the P&C. The P&C has also undertaken a loan from the Queensland Treasury Corporation to complete this major project and to provide seating, tables, lighting bars, stage curtain, 2 door fridge and urn. The Trinity Bay Theatre will seat 500 and will be an asset to the School, P&C and the wider community.
The year’s meetings were always filled with interesting information provided by the Principal and many discussions about a wide range of topics.

THE YEAR AHEAD – 2008

Maintaining a healthy, efficient and profitable Tuckshop is important to the P&C as the Tuckshop is the main fundraiser for the P&C. Encouraging students and staff to avail themselves of the healthy foods provided will continue to keep projects funded by the P&C. Parents, family and friends can also contribute by volunteering time in the Tuckshop to help make the Tuckshop more profitable.
Bill Liddle obtained a Grant to erect a shelter on the site of the old Art Block and the P&C will be contributing to the cost of this much needed shelter.
The School Uniform is under review and a sub-committee will be formed to advance this project.
2009 heralds Trinity Bay State High School’s 50th year of providing high-quality education to students in Cairns. Preliminary discussions have occurred to organise the 50th year celebration. Past students and staff would be most welcome to contribute to this planning. Please contact the school if you like to involved.
